Ecclesiological Etchings

Scripture: Romans 7:4-6
In the same way, my friends, you have died to the law through the body of Christ, so that you may belong to another, to him who has been raised from the dead in order that we may bear fruit for God.  While we were living in the flesh, our sinful passions, aroused by the law, were at work in our members to bear fruit for death. But now we are discharged from the law, dead to that which held us captive, so that we are slaves not under the old written code but in the new life of the Spirit.

Thought for the Day: It is Easter Sunday, a glorious day filled with joyful hallelujahs. It is a day of new beginnings, and at Cypress Creek Christian Church this day begins something new and exciting for us — Dare to Dream. Too often resurrection is tied entirely to life after death, but the Good News of resurrection is that it is finding and living the true life in the here and now. When it happens to an individual, it makes the heavenly choirs sing, but when it happens among a community, things change on a large scale.  Watch what happens when resurrection frees people from fear, untethers them from insecurities, and unshackles them from the short-sidedness of this world. The dreams and visions God has been casting before humanity are embraced. The self-imposed limitations diminish and ultimately disappear. People join together with passion to create whatever it is that God is putting before them.  Just be aware that many have taken a first glimpse at this God dream and decided the pre-resurrection life was better or easier.  But trust me, it is not!

Prayer: O Lord of the Empty Tomb, we join people around the globe who are singing joyful songs of celebration. Allow the words and melodies to infuse the message of new life more fully in our day to day living. This we pray in the name of the resurrected Christ. Amen.

Glorious Day Ahead!
