Scripture: Psalm 68:34-35
Ascribe power to God, whose majesty is over Israel; and whose power is in the skies. Awesome is God in his sanctuary, the God of Israel; he gives power and strength to his people. Blessed be God!
Thought for the Day: Throughout the scriptures, God is found to be the source of gifts. Human beings are blessed beyond measure, yet the blessing is only known when the recipient of those gifts actually recognizes the gifts given. As we talked about yesterday in worship, the Spiritual Practice of surrendering oneself more fully to God is what allows us to receive what God desires to give. When a person surrenders him/herself, both hands and heart are made available to accept what is given. It might sound almost silly, but how often are we clinging to our own power and strength, and for that reason, unable to grasp the gifts God is offering.
Prayer: I thank you for the gifts you offer, Loving Lord, and I only hope to relinquish whatever it is that will keep me from accepting these blessings. Amen.
