Scripture: Romans 12:12-14
Rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, persevere in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints; extend hospitality to strangers. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them.
Thought for the Day: Life! Life is happening all around us, not simply within our own bubble. There are those who are rejoicing and feeling abundantly blessed, while others are being treated poorly. There are some who seek to do us harm, while others are seeking ways of being generous to those in need. With these words, I believe Paul is setting before us a list of expectations. Here are the things we all should be doing, though each one may not be relevant for my current situation. With that said, there are people around me every day who find themselves in each of these categories. Let us not be self-absorbed, but cognizant of those around us – for life is happening, and not simply within our own bubble.
Prayer: Give me clear vision, O Lord of All, so I see beyond my own circumstance. Help me to be aware of my sisters and brothers whose life experience may look very different from my own. Amen.
