Ecclesiological Etchings

Scripture: Acts 12:5
While Peter was kept in prison, the church prayed fervently to God for him.

Thought for the Day: Our church ran an ad before Easter in the Belief Section, and it appeared among another ten or so ads.  All of them were for other church Easter services, except for one.  The very top ad was for a Bail Bondsman.  I found that rather intriguing on the Friday before Easter when Jesus was in the tomb.  I don’t believe Jesus needed a Bail Bondsman to get him out of his difficult predicament.  Along with Jesus, the disciples turned to God (and later the Body of Christ) when they found themselves in difficult circumstances.  As we learned way back in Exodus, the God we worship is a God of liberation, a God who desires to set us free.

Prayer: Wherever I am stuck, Lord, allow your liberating grace to guide me from bondage to new life.  Amen.
