For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?
Thought for the Day: Why are tax collectors always described as bad guys? I’ve known some tax collectors (IRS agents), and they were pretty good people. In fact, some of them were leaders in the churches I served. Of course, the tax collectors in the days of Jesus were more like extortionists than simple employees following specific guidelines handed down to them. On this tax day, let us be mindful of all those who work in the tax system. You may not enjoy paying taxes, and you might even have some real disagreements in how those tax dollars are spent, but let us pray for folks who are often ridiculed for doing nothing more than their job.
Prayer: As you love us all, Gracious Lord, may I strive to match the capacity of your love. Amen.
