Ecclesiological Etchings: 04-16-13

Ecclesiological Etchings

Scripture: 1st Peter 3:14-16
But even if you do suffer for doing what is right, you are blessed. Do not fear what they fear, and do not be intimidated, but in your hearts sanctify Christ as Lord. Always be ready to make your defense to anyone who demands from you an accounting for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and reverence. Keep your conscience clear, so that, when you are maligned, those who abuse you for your good conduct in Christ may be put to shame.

Thought for the Day: There are times when circumstances require a good sermon, but there are other times when we should ruminate on scripture in hopes that it creates a living sermon within us.  With what we’ve all seen on TV since yesterday afternoon, it is important for us to respond in faith…and for that, might I suggest we all spend some quality time reflecting on these words from 1st Peter that provide us insight into how a person responds when others have caused suffering.

Prayer: Give us the needed time in the days ahead, Lord, to be prayerful and reflective on the central teachings given to us through Jesus.  May our response as a people of faith be an even greater expression of your love.  Amen.
