Scripture: Ephesians 6:15
As shoes for your feet put on whatever will make you ready to proclaim the gospel of peace.
Thought for the Day: Oliver Wendell Holmes wrote the following:
I find the great thing in this world
is not so much where we stand,
as in what direction we are moving:
To reach the port of heaven,
we must sail sometimes with the wind
and sometimes against it
– but we must sail,
and not drift, nor lie at anchor.
In a world where people want to know where you stand on an issue, I believe Christians should be asking a different set of questions – questions that deal with the direction of our lives and the impact the movement of our lives is having on the world around us. Those who have made a great stand on some important issue in history were in fact people who did not stand around, but were in motion. Declaring one’s stance is rather meaningless if there is no movement that follows. Instead of declaring where we stand, let us show the world our priorities and convictions by providing living examples…even when no one else initially follows.
Prayer: Provide me, O Giver of Good News, what is needed to deliver your gift where it is needed. Amen.
