Scripture: Isaiah 41:10
Do not fear, for I am with you, do not be afraid, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.
Thought for the Day: I have spoken these words of scripture in many different settings. From the hospital room to the funeral home, they have been heard by those who felt as if they had been swept into the chaos. I do not believe these words have any magical power to calm the chaos, but over the years, a number of people have asked for a written copy of the scripture. For some of them, it became a daily mantra that reinforced a key belief. No matter what the world throws at us, God will remain faithful. No matter how crazy life may become, God is on our side. No matter how hopeless the future may seem, God will have the final word. As we enter this new month, let us seek afresh the God who declared through the prophets, angels and Jesus himself: “Do not fear!”
Prayer: Though there is much that could trigger fear, Lord, I know you walk with me into the deepest darkness and back. Amen.
