Scripture: James 1:17
Every good gift, every perfect gift, comes from above. These gifts come down from the Father, the creator of the heavenly lights, in whose character there is no change at all.
Thought for the Day: Yesterday was a marvelous day! It started with three wonderful services of worship in which a congregation responded in a very positive way to a sermon that might have been considered a little edgy. The music was, like always, beautiful in its rich diversity. Then it was a quick trip to Texas City for our Area Assembly, and though I wasn’t able to stay for the entire thing, it was glorious to see all of our Commissioned Ministers recognized, but specifically Tami Nelson and Jan Nash who can put the title “Rev” in front of their names. The church – both local and universal – is a better place because of their work. And then I dashed back north for what was a breathtaking concert – The Dvorak Mass in D. It was powerful, and Dr. Joel Plaag did an amazing job preparing the musicians for the offering they presented – an offering to the audience and to God. Though a bit tired by the time I arrived back at the house around 9:00pm, it was a good tired. God was moving among the great diversity of people I encountered throughout the day. There are times when if you pause long enough in the busyness of the day, you see blessings that otherwise would have gone unnoticed. I’m glad I took a few moments yesterday as there were more God-moments than my little mind could count.
Prayer: You are good, O Lord, and I pray that my eyes and my heart are able to perceive all your goodness that is put before me this day. Amen.
