Scripture: Proverbs 16:23-24
The mind of the wise makes their speech judicious, and adds persuasiveness to their lips. Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.
Thought for the Day: Our speech has the potential for so much good. Whether it is a kind word to the man ringing-up our grocery items or the woman we meet during our morning walk, the language we use has the potential of dramatically impacting their day. How about the words you use with your spouse or your child after s/he does something to upset you? Or what about the person who just rear-ended your car? How is your reaction manifest in language? Our language can change another person’s mood and outlook, either positively or negatively. Let us be judicious, recognizing how pleasant words bring health to the body, both my body and the person with whom I’m speaking.
Prayer: O God, provide me a mind that is prudent and a spirit that is sensible so I may speak the Gospel even when the situation is strenuous. Amen.
