Scripture: Psalm 32:6
Therefore let all who are faithful offer prayer to you; at a time of distress, the rush of mighty waters shall not reach them.
Thought for the Day: It was Abraham Lincoln who offered these thoughts about his mother: “I remember my mother’s prayers and they have always followed me. They have clung to me all my life.” Was it the power of the prayer or the person behind the prayer that caused President Lincoln to remember so well? I don’t know the answer to that question, though I would guess a combination of both. The act of prayer can be very powerful, but when they are offered by someone who loves us, they touch us more deeply…and as President Lincoln discovered, they stay with us.
Prayer: For all those who have taken prayer seriously, we give you thanks, Lord. Though on the Eve of a day when mothers are honored, we are especially mindful of those petitions offered by women who have loved their children and all the children of the world. Amen.
