Scripture: 1st Corinthians 12:27
Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.
Thought for the Day: Today is the Feast of Corpus Christi (Body of Christ), and no, it is not a city festival celebrated four hours from Spring. The Feast of Corpus Christi has been celebrated in parts of the church for nearly 800 years, and it has been a time to joyfully honor the Lord’s Supper. During Holy Week, the church celebrates the Last Supper on Maundy Thursday, but it is always a very solemn and introspective occasion. The church didn’t want to forget how the experience at the Communion Table should also be a celebration. Along with the joyful celebration, the Feast Day of Corpus Christi offer an opportunity for the church to reflect on how Christ is present at the Table. Though many theories, no one knows exactly. It remains a great mystery, yet we claim that Jesus meets us in the meal. This is reason to give thanks! This is reason to celebrate!
Prayer: You came to this world, O Lord, in the form of a man from Nazareth. You continue to meet the world in so many marvelous ways, including Communion’s bread and cup. Thank you! Amen.
