Scripture: Proverbs 13:22
The good leave an inheritance to their children’s children, but the sinner’s wealth is laid up for the righteous.
Thought for the Day: A visionary corporation is probably looking at most 8 – 10 years down the road. They may talk vaguely of 20 or 25, but they have to meet the expectation of their investors next quarter. For that reason, they are often willing to sacrifice what might happen down the road for the sure thing tomorrow. As people of faith, we should think more long term. There is a Native American Proverb that says, “We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.” What might we be borrowing today that will greatly burden our children and children’s children?
Prayer: Give me the spiritual strength, O God, to live more respectfully and frugally so that generations from now will be able to simply live. Amen.
