Scripture: Exodus 16:23
Moses said to them, “This is what the Lord has commanded: ‘Tomorrow is a day of solemn rest, a holy sabbath to the Lord; bake what you want to bake and boil what you want to boil, and all that is left over put aside to be kept until morning.'”
Thought for the Day: Tomorrow begins a time of rest for our young people as school (at least in the Klein district) comes to a close later this afternoon. Teachers will be delaying their rest one more day, but as another school year ends, I pray for rest of both mind and body. Moses told the people to prepare for their sabbath rest by making food the day before and eating leftovers on the day of rest. Is this a law or more of a general approach to the day? I think the latter as it reminds us of how easy it is to replace our crazy lives with other craziness; how easy it is to fill the void with other stuff. For many people in our culture, true rest is hard. We see it as laziness and thus a bad mark on ourselves. Yet God understands the true need of the human being, a need to carve out time for genuine rest in the presence of God. To our children and youth, but especially our educators and support staff, take a deep breath and find rest from your work.
Prayer: Good and Grace-filled God, provide us times that our bodies and minds are able to truly rest from the chaos and anxieties and restlessness that is so often stirring around us or within us. Give us time to breathe in your loving presence and to exhale was is unhealthy to us. Amen.

As a teacher myself, Thank You! It’s hard to accept that it is okay to sit and be still!!!
Something that we all need to work on…
