Scripture: 1st Thessalonians 5:14
And we urge you, beloved, to admonish the idlers, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with all of them.
Thought for the Day: Many of us are good at recognizing the problems in someone else’s life and knowing what the solutions are to those problems. As I often say, “I can live other people’s lives much better than I can live my own.” Paul is not inviting us to live other people’s lives, but he does expect us to live as community – Christ-like community. We are to walk alongside others as they do the same with us. In doing so, we’ll probably see a number of things in others that need some work, but above the need to see change, patience must rule. This is tough when it comes to other people’s issues, but I’m guessing we hope others will be patient with us. We are all works in progress.
Prayer: Grant me a heart of grace, O God, so I can truly be patient as I live in community with those around me. Amen.
