My heart has been wrenched, O Lord.
The core of my being aches this day.
The sadness I feel most certainly
Does not equal the sadness of heaven,
Yet my heart has been wrenched.
With every life lost this week,
With every family grieved,
It feels as if your reign of love
is slipping further and further away.
My heart has been wrenched, O Lord.
My sisters and brothers died
as they celebrated with dancing.
They were targeted because
Someone judged them different.
My heart has been wrenched, O Lord.
Gay, straight, transgender,
Black, white, young, old,
Asian, Hispanic
African, Middle Eastern.
My heart has been wrenched, O Lord.
We sing of your love
For all the children of the world.
We sing of this love,
Yet some die for no rational reason.
My heart has been wrenched, O Lord.
An act of violence-
It is not about religion.
An act of violence-
It is only about hate.
My heart has been wrenched, O Lord.
In the days ahead
I will not ask you, O Lord,
To take my sadness away.
I will not seek to move on.
My heart has been wrenched, O Lord.
As the world too quickly forgets,
I vow to continue to mourn and weep
With those who mourn and weep.
This tragedy will not slip from my mind.
My heart has been wrenched, O Lord.
Lord have mercy, Christ have mercy,
Lord have mercy upon us all.
My heart has been wrenched,
Yet I know your reign of love
Has not and will not slip away.
Amen.

So beautifully written. So mournfully sad. Thank you for touching my heart.
