Scripture: 2nd Timothy 4:7
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
Thought for the Day: Recently I was looking through our Disciple Hymnal at some old hymns, and I came across #545, He Leadeth Me: O Blessed Thought. The closing line reads:
And when my task on earth is done,
when, by thy grace the victory’s won,
e’en death’s cold wave I will not flee,
since God thro’ Jordan leadeth me.
He leadeth me, he leadeth me,
by his own hand he leadeth me:
his faithful follower I would be
for by his hand he leadeth me.
The words of the hymn alongside the words from 2nd Timothy are a challenge, a spiritual double-dog-dare to finish this life in such a way that it will be pleasing to God. It won’t be perfect, and if we’re honest with ourselves, there will be some regrets. With that said, I set out today with a renewed passion to make this day and the day following something a little more pleasing to God with a few less regrets.
Prayer: You leadeth me, you leadeth me, O God whose hand is gracious and kind. Amen.
