Scripture: Exodus 3:2-3
There the angel of the Lord appeared to Moses in a flame of fire out of a bush; he looked, and the bush was blazing, yet it was not consumed. Then Moses said, “I must turn aside and look at this great sight, and see why the bush is not burned up.”
Thought for the Day: The title of chapter three in our Dare to Dream series is Your Burning Bush. Just like Moses, God has a purpose for each of our lives. Mike Slaughter suggests, like Moses, we all have three life stages with prayers associated with them.
1. Empire Building – Prayer: God, Bless Me
2. Disillusionment – Prayer: God, Save Me
3. A Fire that Won’t Burn Out – Prayer: God, Use Me
Recognizing which life stage we currently reside opens the door to change. We have to know where are in order to move forward; in order to grow. Wow, what an awesome way to assess our spiritual maturity. I’m keeping my spiritual eyes focused on the fire of the Holy Spirit and making an effort to end all my prayers with God, USE ME!
Prayer: God of Wonder, open my spiritual eyes to the signs of your presence. Guide me toward the stage of my life that honors you and allows the light of your presence to spill out into the world. Come, Holy Spirit; provide me with your life energy. In the mighty name of Jesus I pray. Amen.
