Scripture: Ephesians 5:10
Try to find out what is pleasing to the Lord.
Thought for the Day: I must confess that these words of scripture slapped me hard across the theological cheek with their simplistic candor. Though I could spend a lifetime trying to figure out all the things that please the Lord, my Christian faith calls me to look at the life of Jesus for some very attainable options. What I don’t understand are people whose supposed ways of ‘pleasing the Lord’ in no way reflect a man who welcomed and loved all those who had been scorned by the culture. Of course, I need to take a closer look at my own life where I’d probably find many things that do not reflect the life of Jesus. We’re all a work in progress, but this day, let us strive to find one more thing that is pleasing to the Lord…and then do it.
Prayer: From a table where the ostracized were welcomed – to a street corner where lepers felt his touch – I pray that I can learn how to please you, O Lord. Amen.
