Ecclesiological Etchings

Scripture: Galatians 6:9
So let us not grow weary in doing what is right, for we will reap at harvest time, if we do not give up.

Thought for the Day: No pressure, but we are halfway through 2015. If you set certain goals or created a New Year’s Resolution at the beginning of the year but have not started, it is probably time. Back in late 2014, I committed myself to learning basic Spanish. I took Spanish in 7th grade, but it didn’t stick. A few weeks ago I was sitting on the couch doing nothing when I realized I had not even taken the first step toward my goal. After some basic research and the purchase of an introductory program, I started a couple days ago.

Paul tells us to not become weary or give up, but I think there are times when I become weary and give up before I even try. Many Christian people will suggest that they need to recommit themselves to Spiritual Disciplines, but when challenged to give specific examples of how they have previously tried, many confess that they really never started.

It is never too late to begin a new spiritual practice. Do more than set a goal or make a 6-month into the New Year Resolution. Just start! Today!

Prayer: I want to be your faithful disciple, My Creator and Redeemer, but faithful and disciple require me to act this very day. Lead me; show me; be with me. Amen.
