Scripture: 1st Samuel 2:1
There is no Holy One like the Lord, no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God.
Thought for the Day: I invite you to put those words of scripture to memory today, or if not to memory, jot them on a sticky note that is accessible and from which you can read and reread them numerous times throughout this day. At first glance, those words may appear rather trivial. It is part of the prayer offered by Hannah after leaving her son, Samuel, with Eli the priest. It feels as if God is being measured, and though the tools for measurement would overshadow most anything we could imagine, the author poetically describes God as that which has no equal. In the end, all that humans use to measure God will fall short of providing any sort of reference point by which we can completely assess the One who was and is and shall be.
Prayer: Let me come to know you, O Holy One, yet let my attempts never assume full knowledge. Amen.
