Scripture: 1st Samuel 3:1
Now the boy Samuel was ministering to the Lord under Eli. The word of the Lord was rare in those days; visions were not widespread.
Thought for the Day: What does it mean to say that the word of the Lord was rare in those days? Does God take breaks, extended vacations or a quiet respite? I can’t offer a definitive answer to that question, though let me suggest that many people have experienced the absence of God and placed the blame squarely on God without scrutinizing their own awareness and openness. Could it be that when we’ve spoken of God’s absence that we were in fact ignoring or missing God who was there and was only absent from our perception?
Prayer: I don’t want miss you, God, yet there are things that are probably keeping me from perceiving you. Remove the obstacles, assist me in creating an awareness. Amen.
