Scripture: 1st Samuel 3:19
As Samuel grew up, the Lord was with him and let none of his words fall to the ground.
Thought for the Day: Do you have a 3 or 5 second rule in your house? A carrot stick falls on the floor, and because dirt and germs are somewhat slow, there is a window of opportunity for us to grab it, brush it off and place it in our mouths without it becoming a delivery device of disgusting. Growing up, we had more like a 3-5 day rule. I attribute my good immune system to that rule. Yet around God’s house, it appears that there is no need for a 3 or 5 second rule because nothing falls on the ground. For Samuel, God’s presence was so palpable that the message of God did not slip away…even for a moment. It is a wonderful image, but let me suggest that most of us are surrounded by people who have allowed God’s gift of grace to fall away from them. Make sure they understand that whether it has been 3 or 5 seconds, 3-5 days, or even 3-5 decades since the Good News of unconditional love slipped from their lives, it is never too late. This stuff doesn’t go bad after a certain period of time.
Prayer: For your word of love, O Lord, we are thankful. May its universal and never-ending character be perceived by more and more people. Amen.
