Scripture: Psalm 148:1-5
Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord from the heavens; praise him in the heights! Praise him, all his angels; praise him, all his host! Praise him, sun and moon; praise him, all you shining stars! Praise him, you highest heavens, and you waters above the heavens! Let them praise the name of the Lord, for he commanded and they were created.
Thought for the Day: The great hymn, All Things Bright and Beautiful, was inspired by the poetic words of S. T. Coleridge who wrote: “He prayeth best, who loveth best; All things great and small; For the dear God who loveth us; He made and loveth all.” God is the source of life, and God’s creative energy has its basis in love. God did not create just because God felt like it. There is a purpose to what God does, and the foundation of that creative purpose is found in love. I think that’s the reason all creation that perceives the divine love desires to offer words and songs of gratitude.
Prayer: All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small, in your love, O God, you made them all. Amen.
