Start with God – the first step in learning is bowing down to God; only fools thumb their noses at such wisdom and learning.
Thought for the Day: I came to Cypress Creek Christian Church three years ago. A few weeks before my arrival, I started the Ecclesiological Etchings. I had been doing a similar daily devotional while serving in Naples for over four years. Today (or it might be tomorrow) will be my 1000th Ecclesiological Etching since arriving here three years ago. There have been a few days in which I didn’t write one. There have been Elders and Church Staff who have written some along the way, giving me a needed break. In a year and half, I hope to be at 1,500 and in three more years, I’d like to hit 2,000. Though when I talk in those terms, I find myself rather intimidated by the whole thing. In fact, I feel a little anxious and squeamish. This has been one of my spiritual practices, and it is a good reminder that goals are important, but goals are achieved one day at a time. Another 1,000 devotionals makes my stomach turn, but another one tomorrow seems real achievable. What’s your goal? What small step will you take today to move a little closer to achieving that goal?
Prayer: As I run the spiritual race with you, Lord, let the finish line compel me forward while always focusing on the very next step. Amen.
