Scripture: John 1:14
And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father’s only son, full of grace and truth.
Thought for the Day: C.S. Lewis offered these thoughtful and challenging words:
It is Christ Himself, not the Bible, who is the true word of God. The Bible, read in the right spirit and with the guidance of good teachers, will bring us to Him. We must not use the Bible as a sort of encyclopedia out of which texts can be taken for use as weapons.
I imagine that C.S. Lewis was speaking from personal experience, witnessing many who had ripped verses from the Bible and used them in ways that did not reflect the life and teaching of Jesus… using them to cause spiritual, emotional or even physical injury. If we claim that Jesus is more than a dead historical figure, but truly alive, then shouldn’t we pursue a relationship with him as the living Word? That’s not to dismiss the Bible. Not at all. Yet what would it mean to speak of the scriptures as a tool by which we are led into a relationship with the Word, the living Christ.
Prayer: Open my heart, O Living Word, for I desire above all things to have a transformative relationship with you. Amen.

I really like this Bruce
Everybody knows and loves John 3:16
And I do too
But I also love John 3:17
God sent not his Son to condemn the world
But through him the world might be saved
Thanks!
