Scripture: 2nd Corinthians 13:13
May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

Thought for the Day: The word with, as in the the Holy Spirit be with you all, is meta in the original Greek. What I love about the word is that it is most often translated as with or among — something very good to know about the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit. But the Greek word meta can also be translated as behind. Think about it for a minute — there are days when you need the fullness of God and God’s gifts to be with you and beside you – there are other days when you need the fullness of God and God’s gifts behind you to push and nudge you along the way. I’m not too sure exactly what the Apostle Paul’s original intent was when he wrote those words, but I like to think that he knew I’d need a God who would judge my circumstance and be beside me when I needed the divine presence beside me, but that the fullness of God was able to move behind me when a good swift kick in the rear was most needed.

Prayer: May your presence be known to me, O Triune God, as you see most fitting to my circumstance. Amen.
