Ecclesiological Etchings

Scripture: 1st Corinthian 13:8
Love never ends. But as for prophecies, they will come to an end; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will come to an end.

Thought for the Day: I watched most of the closing ceremonies of the 2012 Olympics, and though there were a few odd moments, I kind of enjoyed them.  But as I watched the athletes, some with medals and some without, there was joy on every face.  For a few days every couple of years, the world demonstrates how nations should compete against one another.  Not on the battle field, but on the fields of competition.  And though the sporting events are coming to an end, the love and respect demonstrated can linger on assuming we do not forget what is possible when human beings choose to listen to the better angels of our nature.  I’m guessing many of the athletes will remember, not only the competition, but also the people they met and the friendships that were made.

Prayer: Make us believe, O Lord, that through love people and nations can find a way of living in peace.  Make us believe, O Lord, and maybe we will live into that belief.  Amen.
