Thought for the Day: I came across this confessional prayer by Lavon Bayler that was especially meaningful to me:
God, you have forgiven us many times. Still we wander away from you, living as if we need not account to anyone for our words or deeds. We depend on our own cunning rather than on your direction. We flex our muscles instead of relying on your mercy. We build our lives on other foundations than the one you have given us in Jesus Christ. We boast of our accomplishments rather than your generous provisions for us. Merciful God, we need your forgiveness again. Amen.
In a world that teaches us to take all the credit, what do we learn as we humbly give God the credit?
Prayer: Merciful God, I am most definitely in need of your forgiveness. Amen.
