Thought for the Day: On Saturday, October 5, Cypress Creek Christian Church will host a Blessing of the Animals and Stuffed Animals (10:00am – 1:00pm). It should be a wonderful experience for every creature involved. Of course, it was St. Francis who inspired this special day of blessing offered to the creatures who share this planet with us, including the pets who live with us. St. Francis was an amazingly insightful man on a whole host of topics, but one particular insight offered by St. Francis should be sewn inside the underwear of church-going folks as an ongoing reminder. That insight was: “Start by doing what is necessary, then what is possible, and suddenly you are doing the impossible.” Throughout Christian history, some of the greatest (even miraculously) accomplishments started with someone who was willing to initiate things by doing what was necessary…and then…before long…wow!
Prayer: Lord, we all want to be a participant in something amazing, but teach me to be consistent with small acts of faithfulness. It just might be the spark needed to start a revolution of grace. Amen.
