Scripture: 1st Peter 2:10
Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
Thought for the Day: There are so many things that define who I am. I am husband, son, father, brother, pastor and friend. I am short, a little over weight, and I have MS. I grew-up in the Midwest, but I now live in Texas. I am a big Nebraska football fan. All these things, and many others, define who I am. How does the fact that I have received and chosen to live in the blessing of God’s mercy (compassionate forgiveness) define who I am as a person? God chose to act through sacrificial love that I might know who I am: a beloved child of God and part of God’s people. God chose to act in this way that all of us might be defined by this merciful kindness.
Prayer: O Gracious King, may your mercy define who I am and how I live. Amen.
