Ecclesiological Etchings

Scripture: 2nd Corinthian 10:11
Let such people understand that what we say by letter when absent, we will also do when present.

Thought for the Day: The author, Phyllis Theroux, wrote, “To send a letter is a good way to go somewhere without moving anything but your heart.”  In a world where communication is changing ever-so-quickly, I don’t think we fully understand the power and authority of letters.   The Apostle Paul didn’t send them as a way of copping out of making a personal trip.  He gave as much of himself as he could  in the written form when travel was simply not an option.  No matter what we are doing, whether it is visiting someone in person or sending an email or talking on Skype, we need to always give ourselves fully to the task.  Only then will people recognize the genuine love we have for them.

Prayer: May all my communications express love for the other, O Lord whose word took on flesh.  Amen.
