Ecclesiological Etchings

Scripture: Psalm 5:1-2
Give ear to my words, O Lord; give heed to my sighing. 2 Listen to the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for to you I pray.

Thought for the Day: Andrew Murray, the 19th Century pastor, said, “Some people pray just to pray and some people pray to know God.”  Prayer can be one of the ways by which we can know God, and then begin to follow in the ways of God.  That’s not to suggest that God will give us a clear YES or NO the moment we start praying, but the act of prayerful meditation allows us to touch again the One whose character will be a gauge by which we can better decide what is and is not of God.

Prayer: O Merciful God who provides both the standard of Christ-like living but also the means of living like Christ, I give you thanks.  Continue to create within me a heart for discerning prayer that allows my decisions to be made in light of my growing relationship with you.  Amen.
