Scripture: 1st John 1:1-3
We declare to you what was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, concerning the word of life—this life was revealed, and we have seen it and testify to it, and declare to you the eternal life that was with the Father and was revealed to us—we declare to you what we have seen and heard so that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ.
Thought for the Day: I will often jot down a thought and tuck it away as if it will, overtime, take root and begin to grow into something useful. I came across one of those thoughts that had remained for a number of years in its seed like stage. All it said was: “Ordinary and finite people who glimpse the infinite reality of God will no longer view their finite life as ordinary.” 1st John refers to this encounter with the infinite/eternal character of God, and I can only imagine that the encounter forever changed the author’s perception of life. Though we may view our lives as mundane and uneventful, an encounter with the fullness of God will forever change our perception of that life. Let us live as those who have peered into the magnificent and eternal reality of the Holy Other.
Prayer: As those who have been awestruck by your immeasurable love, O Lord, we seek to live in such a way that others will be awestruck by the immeasurable love they encounter through us. Amen.
