Ecclesiological Etchings

Scripture: 2nd John 1:12
Although I have much to write to you, I would rather not use paper and ink; instead I hope to come to you and talk with you face to face, so that our joy may be complete.

Thought for the Day: It is strange to be writing a devotional that I’ll put on my blog and Facebook page about an ancient author who didn’t want to send a letter but to meet people in person.  There is a time for everything including written correspondence, but the heart of the church’s mission is to be present to one another in the flesh.  The scriptures speak of One called the Christ who embodied divine love.  This embodiment did not come via a letter or an email, but in the presence of a human being.  Those of us who are members of the church continue to be the body of Christ, the divine presence in human form.

Prayer: Kind and Generous Creator, may the flesh I have become a means by which the body of Christ is present to those who are hurting.  Amen.
