With the spirit and power of Elijah he will go before him, to turn the hearts of parents to their children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.
Thought for the Day: Monday Night Football had a theme song that went something like this:
Strap in and hold on tight
We’re gonna blow the roof off this place tonight
Ready! C’mon and get ready,
I mean really ready
Are you ready for some football? A Monday night party?
I don’t know if this year’s Monday Night Football promo song will be similar, but this one had energy and made you want to drop everything and get ready. In my opinion, the church needs a similar song. Maybe something like:
Hold on tight, this is forewarning
We’re gonna blow the roof of this place this morning.
Ready! Come in and get ready,
I mean Jesus ready
Are you ready for some worship? A good Alleluia party?
Ok…maybe a little silly. But being prepared for worship is something we do not do well. Too many people attend worship, but do not fully experience the God who made worship possible. Tomorrow we gather… are you ready? I mean Jesus ready?
Prayer: Loosen me up; soften my heart; make me available for whatever you are about to do, O God of new beginnings. I don’t wish to be just another spectator in the stands, but a full participant in the building of your Kingdom here on earth. Amen.
