Ecclesiological Etchings

Scripture: 1st Corinthians 1:4
I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that has been given you in Christ Jesus…

Thought for the Day: Grace is not only a gift that has some future blessing, but the impact it has upon those who realize its breathtaking character is life changing in the now. The Presbyterian theologian, Frederick Buechner, described it this way: “The grace of God means something like: Here is your life. You might never have been, but you are because the party wouldn’t have been complete without you.”  Grace – God’s unconditional love – is this joyful invitation to participate in the fullness of life.  It is a gift, and it is given because God desires for each of us to experience the beauty of a life lived as it was intended.  Take a moment to savor what it means to be loved beyond measure, and then ponder what it might mean for all of humanity to know that they have been invited to the party.

Prayer: Today, Lord, I wish to celebrate all you have given me.  I may not be able to fully fathom the remarkable nature of your gift, but I will enjoy each day as I grow in my appreciation of it and my ability to share it.  Amen.
