Scripture: Ephesians 6:19-20
Pray also for me, so that when I speak, a message may be given to me to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it boldly, as I must speak.

Thought for the Day: I have watched the faces of hurting people light-up when I told them how someone had specifically prayed for them. It doesn’t solve all the problems of life; it doesn’t alleviate all the concerns we might have. Yet the idea that someone else took that time to lift my name to God is a reminder that I am not alone in whatever difficulty I am facing.  Janice Hughes, a voice on issues of leadership, says:

Rich is the person who has a praying friend.

Paul understood the power of someone else’s prayers. The road ahead wasn’t going to be easy for Paul, yet there appears to be comfort and confidence that comes about in his request that others pray. Though many people try to make Christianity all about “me and God,” it was never intended to be an individual experience. Everything about faith is based in community, and our prayers need to be centered in community.

Prayer: Bind us together through prayer, O Lord who is forever present. In our connectedness, let us find strength for what we face each and every day. Amen.
