Scripture: Ecclesiastes 3:4
…a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
Thought for the Day: Many people think of September 11th as a day of mourning and quiet reflection, yet what happens when September 11 is also the birthday of the one you call your spouse. In my household, tomorrow is a day of celebration. It is the day the woman I love was born. Too often we try to compartmentalize our lives as ‘either this or that,’ but I think most of our lives are a bit more complicated and less able to be held within such strict categories. Even though the author of Ecclesiastes seemed to portray each diverse emotion as being bound to one specific time as if the others had to wait in line, I’m guessing that wasn’t the original intention. And if you see me tomorrow and I am smiling, don’t think I’m being disrespectful. Maybe it is a good reminder to look carefully into the darkest moments, for God is capable of revealing hope in the middle of the darkness.
Prayer: Lord, any day has the potential for healing and transformation assuming I look to you and the hope you provide. Amen.
