Thought for the Day: This past Sunday, I referenced a sermon I heard preached by Archbishop Desmond Tutu on this single verse of scripture. In fact, he only spoke on the first half of this one verse: In the beginning, God… He was emphasizing our need to remember where we start and where we should always be grounded. I found this especially interesting as the seminary where I did my graduate work, Christian Theological Seminary, just hosted Archbishop Tutu for the opening of the Desmond Tutu Center for Peace and Reconciliation with the Rev. Allan Boesak as its first director. Peace and reconciliation are central characteristics of the Christian faith, yet they will never be realized until we firmly root ourselves in the One who is the source of such things.
