Scripture: Hebrews 11:27
By faith Moses left Egypt, unafraid of the king’s anger; for he persevered as though he saw him who is invisible.
Thought for the Day: One of my favorite sayings comes from an unknown author who wrote, “To love is to risk not being loved in return. To hope is to risk pain. To try is to risk failure, but risk must be taken because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing.” The scriptures are full of those who risked so much, yet the stories noted in the Bible are simply a representation of so many others throughout the generations who have been unafraid when invited to do what was right, good and just. Some of them were probably a bit nervous, yet they found the inner strength to act in spite of the risk. May these stories be more than interesting tales, but a means of divine inspiration in those moments when an opportunity of faith is set before us, an opportunity that will be a bit risky.
Prayer: O Holy One, you risk everything for the sake of the world, and you invite us to be co-risk-takers with you. May hope and love provide us the needed encouragement in all the endeavors of faith. Amen.
