Scripture: Psalm 138:7-8
Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve me against the wrath of my enemies; you stretch out your hand, and your right hand delivers me. The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands.
Thought for the Day: God has a purpose, and you and I and every person on earth – past and present and future – are the focus of that purpose. Both the purpose of God and the means by which that purpose manifests itself is the steadfast love of the Lord that endures forever. If God has a purpose, don’t you imagine that we should have one as well. And if we claim to be followers of God’s fleshly agent, Jesus Christ who clearly had a purpose, don’t you believe we should have one. Too often churches do lots of programming, look busy, but do not actually have a sense of purpose beyond simply providing programs. Some have suggested that churches desire to look busy as a replacement for having a clear sense of purpose. At Cypress Creek Christian Church, we are living into our mission of Helping Families and Individuals Learn to Put Love First in All Things, which is based upon the clear sense of purpose made real in a God who first loved us.
Prayer: As I enjoy the blessings of your purpose, O Lord of Heaven and Earth, allow me to also discover my own purpose that will help to actualize your purpose. Amen.
