Scripture: Proverbs 13:7
Some pretend to be rich, yet have nothing; others pretend to be poor, yet have great wealth.
Thought for the Day: “Nature is pleased with simplicity. And nature is no dummy.” These words of Sir Isaac Newton gave me reason to ponder, and as I have done so, I have found myself not contemplating but reminiscing. I read those words and the image of my grandparents came to mind. They were very simple folks. If my grandmother purchased bread from the store, the plastic bag would have a dozen uses after the bread was eaten. She would darn a sock so many times that you were not too sure what part was the original sock. They grew and canned their own food, while always having enough to give away. They composted to make sure nothing was wasted. They also had an amazing amount to give away, much more than most people with their resources. Why? They lived their lives in a simple manner, and in doing so, their generosity was equal to those of great wealth. Not only does that same something about who they were, but also about some who are wealthy (of which I must include myself). I’ll only speak for myself, but there is definite room for improvement.
Prayer: God, help me to be creative in my living so there are leftovers to share. Amen.
