Scripture: Colossians 2:6-7
As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.
Thought for the Day: I bought some tomato and pepper plants this past spring, replanted them in a larger planter, and hoped that they would grow and produce. The results have been strange to say the least. They never looked very good, produced practically nothing, and then in July turned all brown. But in the last three weeks, they have turned green and started growing crazy-like. You never know what’s going to happen when you replant something. The same is true of our lives as we find ourselves being replanted into the life of Christ. We might be replanted in the rich and nourishing soil of Christ, but will we take root? Will we draw life-giving nourishment from our new setting? Don’t get frustrated if your life doesn’t immediately produce the results you initially expected. Stay with it, and be surprised when things begin to change just shortly after you thought it was all a loss.
Prayer: Mighty God, give me deep roots from which I can draw nourishment from your gift of life itself. Amen.
