Scripture: Psalm 27:3
Though an army encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war rise up against me, yet I will be confident.
Thought for the Day: My heart may not fear, but I think everything else about me would be shaking if an army was encamped outside my front door. To be surrounded, and then to honestly say, “I do not fear,” is an amazing testimony. The Psalmist’s lack of fear is tied to his confidence — confidence in God. We must remember that confidence in another person (or in this case, God) does not happen early in a relationship. Confidence comes as we learn that the other can be trusted, and this takes time and many reassuring experiences. Strive for a deeper relationship with God, and in doing so, the confidence will grow.
Prayer: As I learn more of your graciousness, O my Lord, I gain greater certainty in my relationship with you. Amen.
