Scripture: Luke 12:15
And Jesus said to them, “Take care! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of possessions.”
Thought for the Day: The movie, Veggietale: Madame Blueberry, is a story of a distraught blueberry who is not content with what she has. She has pictures on her wall of all her neighbor’s stuff that she covets. One day, a new megastore called Stuff-Mart moves in across the street. It glitters like a beacon of hope in her life. Some representatives of the store come by to confirm her suspicion that her present stuff is not good enough. They sing to her their corporate song, “Happiness waits at the Stuff-Mart. All you need is lots more stuff.” There are times when fiction is very funny because it is so close to the truth. For most of us, we have a bit of an obsession with stuff. And the marketing folks have pretty much convinced us that happiness waits at the Stuff-Mart…or whatever retail place you want to suggest. Let us seek God’s assistance in reprioritizing our lives with a greater focus on the things of God — or maybe we should say the One who truly is the Source of Life and Happiness.
Prayer: Let me be defined by the vastness of your grace, O Lord, and not by the vast amount of stuff that I collect. Amen.

Very good devotional today. So easy to get hung up on “stuff”.
