Ecclesiological Etchings

Scripture: Romans 5:11
But more than that, we even boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

Thought for the Day: Malcolm Fraser said, “Reconciliation requires changes of heart and spirit, as well as social and economic change. It requires symbolic as well as practical action.”  When God acted in Jesus Christ to reveal the reconciling spirit of God, it wasn’t simply for us to appreciate and receive.  The act of reconciliation spoken of by Paul is an act that goes beyond mending our personal relationship with God, for it is also teaching us how to be the people who are willing to demonstrate real and practical acts of reconciliation.  Too often Christianity is portrayed as a religion by which we receive.  Christianity is so much more as it calls those who have received to be the tangible means by which others receive.  This Sunday, Cypress Creek Christian Church will take up a special offering for Reconciliation.  It will go to support ministries of reconciliation throughout our denomination, including some wonderful ministries of understanding and healing right here within our own SW Region.  As those who have accepted God’s act of reconciliation in Jesus Christ, let us consider a special gift so that others might understand and know the power of reconciliation.

Prayer: As one who has been so richly blessed by your reconciling and healing power, God, may I be among those who willingly take this gift to the world.  Amen.
