Thought for the Day: I’ve heard a number of people tell the following quip:
I went to a bookstore today. I asked the woman behind the counter where the self-help section was. She said, “If I told you, that would defeat the whole purpose.”
Self-help books are beyond numerous, and they are based on the premise that we are capable of overcoming whatever the issue might be. I do believe there is something important about personal responsibility and positive thinking. We need to put forth our best with a sense of hope, but the gift of true peace (not just the absence of violence) comes to us as a gift…as the One from whom we have our being reconnects us with our true purpose and intent.
Prayer: O Holy God, you created us in love for the purpose of love. May the life of Jesus invite me back into this truth. Amen.
