Scripture: Acts 1:8
Jesus said, “…you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Thought for the Day: Our denomination, the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), has as its mission: To be and to share the Good News of Jesus Christ, witnessing, loving and serving from our doorsteps to the ends of the earth. This morning during worship, we will be at our doorstep, and the question for us is simple: Will we do a good job of witnessing, loving and serving? No church will be a perfect expression of the marvelous Good News, but most people we encounter at our doorstep are less concerned about perfection and more interested in authenticity. In fact, an authentic expression of the Good News might change a heart, heal a wound, or literally save a life. As you are at the doorstep of your own church this morning, will you be that authentic expression of the Good News?
Prayer: Loving God, the Good News revealed in Jesus Christ is amazing. Wherever I find myself this day, guide my words and actions so they might point others toward this marvelous gift. Amen.
