Scripture: 2nd Corinthians 9:11-12
You will be enriched in every way for your great generosity, which will produce thanksgiving to God through us; for the rendering of this ministry not only supplies the needs of the saints but also overflows with many thanksgivings to God.
Thought for the Day: Frank Clark was a politician for more than 50 years (1885 – 1936), including 20 years representing Florida in Congress. For lack of a better description, he was a racist of the highest degree. Yet in reading about some of his less than compassionate proposals, I found a quote that read: “Real generosity is doing something nice for someone who will never find out.” It reminds me that we are all a mix of good and bad, healthy and unhealthy, positive and negative. That’s not to dismiss his racist hatred, but even those who have become consumed by a destructive sin like racism still recognize the power of generosity and grace. Maybe there was a yearning within Mr. Clark to be on the receiving end of the amazing generosity of which he spoke. Of course, I would say he was on the receiving end of God’s generous love shown in Jesus, but it sounds as if he was unable to fully recognize or appreciate it.
Prayer: Lord, the generous heart can bless so many. May I take a moment right now to appreciate your generous love that has and will continue to be poured into my life with such abundance. Amen.
